SSC CGL Syllabus 2014-2015
Tier I Syllabus:-
Tier I will consist of 4 sections
1. General
Intelligence
2. English
Language
3. General
Awareness
4. Quantitative
Aptitude

General Intelligence:
Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Analogy, Symbolic
operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Number Series, Embedded figures etc.
English Language: Fill in the Blanks, Idioms & Phrases,
One word substitution, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/Detecting
Mis-spelt words, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs etc.
Quantitative Aptitude: Algebra, Trigonometry, Mensuration.
General Awareness:
Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, economic scene, General polity, Indian Constitution, and scientific research etc. These questions will be such that do not require a special study of any discipline.
Tier II Syllabus:-
PAPER I
Arithmetic Ability:
The paper will be questions based on Number Systems, Computation of Whole
Numbers, Decimals and Fractions, Ratio and Proportion, Average, Interest,
Profit and Loss, Discount, relationship between Numbers, Fundamental
Arithmetical Operations, Percentage, , Use of Table and Graphs, Mensuration,
Time and Distance, Ratio and Time etc.
PAPER II
English Language &
Comprehension: Error recognition, fill in the blanks, preposition, articles,
Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Sentence Completion etc.
PAPER III
Commerce/
Statistics/Economics /Mathematics (for Investigator Grade-II, for Ministry of
Statistics & Program Implementation and Compiler for Registrar General of
India, Ministry of Home Affairs)
COMMERCE : Accountancy,
Business Law, Company Law, Cost Accounting, Auditing and Income Tax, Business
Organization, Management, micro-economics, Indian economics, Business
Statistics
MATHEMATICS:
Algebra, Algebra of Matrices, Statistics, Analytic Geometry, Differential
Equation, and Differential and Integral Calculus
STATISTICS: Graphical
presentation of data, Measures of central tendency, measures of
dispersion, measures of association and contingency, scatter diagram,
Probability, Probability Distributions, Binomial, Poisson, Normal, Exponential.
Compilation, rank correlation coefficient and linear regression analysis (
for two or more variables ) excluding partial correlation coefficients,
classification, tabulation of Statistical Data, correlation coefficient
ECONOMICS: General
Economics (Demand and Supply Analysis, Production Function and Laws of Returns,
Commodity Pricing, Theory of Factor Pricing, Theory of Employment, Keynesian
Theory of Employment etc) and Indian Economics and General
Statistics(Collection and editing of data, Sampling types, Schedule and
questionnaire, Presentation of data, Measures of Central Tendency, National
Income and Accounting, Agricultural sector etc).
Tier III Syllabus:
Only those candidates
who qualified in this above two tier will called for Tier III round in which
candidates have to face to face interview for interview posts.
